The design on one side has an illustration of a symbol of Ireland - The Claddagh Ring in the same style and colour palate as the illustrations from the Book of Kells. On the other side is a short description/background of the symbol. The Claddagh ring is a traditional Irish ring where the heart represents Love, the crown represents Loyalty, and the hands represent Friendship. The name comes from the fishing village of Claddagh, just outside of Galway City on the west coast of Ireland. Both sides of the ornament have sprigs of Shamrock which decorate the edges.
