Note: This product is available in two colour options: Blueware or Greenware (see below for more details) The Design This print "Bunratty Castle" is taken from an 1864 engraving. It appears in the publication "Observations in a Voyage through the Kingdom of Ireland" written and drawn by Thomas Dineley. The image is of a view representing the south prospect of Bunratty Castle. The Owenogarney or Ratty river is to the right, carrying two large ships. Further upriver, on the left bank, stands a tower house. In the foreground - trees, hills and workers. The present castle is from the 15th century and is the last of four castles that were on this site. Bunratty castle is now part of Bunratty Folk Park; 26 acres of impressive park featuring over 30 buildings in a ‘living’ village and rural setting. Rural farmhouses, village shops and streets are recreated and furnished as they would have appeared many years ago. Each Ceramic Print is individually produced ensuring attention to detail and uniqueness - no two are exactly the same. The images are printed and pressed one at a time onto our specially coated ceramic art tile with a printed faux crackle glaze effect. The effect gives a lovely warmth and antique character to the piece. Blueware / Delftware Colour Option You can have the image reproduced as a Blueware (Delftware) tile. This means all the colours are reproduced with a cobalt blue wash. These distinctive tiles in their characteristic blue and white give an added warmth to the product. a real feeling of history and familiarity. Greenware Colour Option Inspired by the 16th Century Delft tiles, our Greenware colour option reproduces the images with an traditional Irish Emerald Green wash. These unique pieces are distinctively Irish and are full of character and interest.
